From Home – call for artwork
From Home is a unique cultural project for the Brighton Digital Festival, examining what life at home is like for us in 2020 – and we need your help. The concept of “home” has great significance in a year when we are spending so much time in our homes – perhaps more than we ever wanted or expected.
We’re asking artists and makers to send us: a photo of a piece of art that was created at home this year during the time of lockdown, OR a photo of a piece of art related to the idea of home. Our example above, ‘Safe’, was created by artist and illustrator Shevon Burrows.
Ideally, we’d like the pictures to be taken at the place in your home where the artwork was created. Please send your photo (preferably a high-res image) to fromhome@movingpicturestheatre.com with a sentence or two introducing yourself and your artwork. If you’ve got any thoughts about what home means to you, these would also be welcome.
The pictures will be shown as part of an installation at the Brighton Digital Festival, which could later tour, while an online archive with VR elements will form a lasting record of these times.
Apart from the images, we’re also collecting short videos sent in from people’s homes, as well as asking people to contact us who’d like to be interviewed on the subject of home for a future series of podcasts. Please explore the From Home 2020 drop down menu above for more information on all aspects of the project – and send us an email if you’ve got any questions.
